Commissioned by BBC Art as part of their 2019 #DancePassion project, FLIGHT is a short dance film that follows a dancer on a journey through Glasgow’s BBC Pacific Quay HQ and is designed to be a snapshot of Dance across Scotland. FLIGHT features 43 dancers from across the Scottish Dance Community, including 12 organisations such as Scottish Ballet, Indepen-Dance, Barrowland Ballet, Shaper-Caper and RSCDS as well as freelance artists. Published on iPlayer, BBC Arts, Youtube and distributed worldwide via social media.

A dance short featuring 16 year old Jamie Campbell, a student in his final year at the Dance School of Scotland. The work was captured for film and then adapted to be performed live at Theatre Royal, Glasgow, July 2019.

The genesis of this project came by way of a commission from world famous folk artist Jarlath Henderson, who has always wanted to see his work interpreted in the form of dance, while performing live on the same stage.

Danced to both iconic Scottish classics and new creations from the Folk department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and played live, the piece aims to capture the spirit, playfulness and athleticism of the Scottish male youth.

With the piece happening in and around guests of the Scottish Ballet company, the work was commissioned to reflect the fundraising goal of supporting Scottish Ballet’s then upcoming tour of the USA, including New York.
